How Juicing Works – Preventing And Reversing Disease

Juicing is probably one of the best things you can do for your health!

How Juicing Works

Juicing separates the fibers and other hard and stringy parts of fruits and vegetables, expelling just the water, sugar and phytonutrients and antioxidants naturally occurring in fruits and vegetables. Juicing basically breaks open the cell walls of the plant tissues, removing the nutrients and water.

This is essentially what your body does when you chew food and then break open cell walls inside your stomach using acid and digestive fluids. Because of this, juicing basically “pre-digests” foods for you making them much easier on your digestive system. That saves you a ton of energy that’s normally spent on digesting. It also allows your body to directly absorb a lot more of the nutrients through your mouth as well as the lining of your intestines.

It’s generally recognized that you can absorb more micronutrient nutrition from juiced produce than from chewing it yourself. This is why juicing is such a great way to boost your nutrition and protect yo u from disease.

Where to buy a juicer

You can buy a juicer pretty much anywhere now, at your local health food store, Walmart, or any other major home appliance retailer as well as online. I always recommend using a “slow juicer.” Slow juicers aren’t really slow

A slow juicer is a juice extractor that uses lower speed motors to extract juices. It is called a “Slow Juicer” because it operates at only 80 RPM and uses a mere 150 Watts of energy, instead of 1,000-24,000 RPM and up to 1,500 Watts of energy like a typical centrifugal “High Speed” juicer.

But don’t let the name fool you. Slow Juicers actually juice faster than most typical juicers and expels significantly more juice from the same foods, with much drier pulp. The method of extraction is masticating and pressing, using the screw-like auger as a mortar and pestle.

The action crushes and presses the food, releasing its deep-seated nutrients and enzymes. It also breaks up more of the phytonutrients, resulting in a richer colored juice that retains more vitamins and minerals. The slow RPM ensures that the cellular structure of fruits and vegetables is kept intact, eliminating oxidation and separation. Thus, it preserves the precious enzymes and nutrients that are closest to its natural form, as well as your food’s delicious flavor.

Why Not To Buy A Cheap Juicer

The difference between a cheap juicer and a slow juicer.

This picture pretty much says it all!

You can buy a cheap juicer, sometimes for less than $100 even. But here’s the problem with that…

When you buy a cheap juicer, there will be lots of left-over water pulp that should have been in the juice – that’s a ton of healthy nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and water you’re missing. It’s also going to cost you a lot more money in the long run ¬†because you’re going to have to juice up to twice as much produce to get the same amount of juice out on the other end.

Not only that, but many cheap juicers leave that separation on the bottom of the juice as you can see in the picture. Those are oxidized particles from the juice that were overheated by too much pressure/friction in the juicer. That damages the nutrients, makes the taste much poorer, and forces you to stir the juice to try to get an even consistency. It’s definitely not recommended!

Avoid oxidation and separation by getting a slow juicer, not just the cheapest juicer you can find. Also remember that a slow juicer will save you money by putting out more juice from the same amount of produce so you don’t waste as much produce. It’s also much better for the environment as it uses less energy and produces much less waste!
