Known for her rock hard athletic body and angelic face, this Playmate, reality TV star and former girlfriend of Hugh Hefner has long been known for having one of the best bodies in the industry.
But when Kendra delivered Hank Baskett IV in 2009 and gained 40lbs during her pregnancy, she had to work hard to shed the pounds, and she put herself on a strict portion-control diet, as well as incorporated a variety of circuit-training exercises into her workout routine to get back in camera-ready shape.
If you want a lean, rock-hard body like Kendra, here’s how this popular reality star made it happen.
Kendra Wilkinson Diet
Right after Kendra had her baby, she began her portion-control diet right away (which turned out to be about 1 cup servings). The main components of her diet included eating protein (her favorite protein is grilled chicken) and carbs in isolation, not depriving herself of food that she loved, no longer eating red meat and no longer eating out (which included her guilty pleasure, the fried chicken salad at Applebee’s). For example, she would eat a cup of Special K cereal in the morning along with 1/4 cup of rice milk, and would have a grapefruit along with her breakfast too. Kendra is also a big fan of homemade smoothies for breakfast.
For lunch, she would have a homemade pizza made with whole wheat dough, light tomato sauce, light cheese and she would have a spinach salad on the side. And for dinner, she would be eat a turkey burger with lettuce and tomato, with a side of sweet potato fries. She would also eat a lot of raw vegetables throughout the day, including baby tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots. As for what she drinks, she’s a big fan of mint-infused water.
Whenever Kendra snacks, especially lately, Kendra is a big fan of nuts. She likes to carry a mix of raw almonds, pistachios, walnuts, dried cranberries, raisins and dried coconut to snack on whenever she gets hungry, and this helps her feel energized as well. She will even mix in nuts into her smoothies and yogurt to get the extra benefits from nuts as much as she can. Since nuts contain plenty of Vitamin E, essential fat and minerals, as well as a little bit of protein, Kendra’s latest snacking idea is a healthy idea she’s having her whole family try.
Kendra Wilkinson’s Workout
Post-baby, Kendra went on to make several workout DVDs, so she knows a thing or two about getting into shape after a pregnancy. She’s a big fan of Bikram yoga, tennis, basketball, dancing, hiking, boxing, soccer, snowboarding, and she goes to the gym often. Kendra likes to do circuit-training, and will use a jump rope, Medicine Ball and Swiss Ball during her workouts. She also did weight-training for 45 minute sessions several times a week.
She likes to jump rope for 1 minute, and will do 12 slam reps on the Medicine Ball. Kendra will also do 30 reps of sit-ups, 20 reps of Russian Twists, 20 reps of the X-Chop, 15 reps on the Swiss Ball Jack Knife, 20 reps of Rricep dips and 30 seconds of the Tire Run. She also does a lunges and squats for her legs, and she likes to do low-impact cardio either on a treadmill for about 25 to 45 minutes (on an incline of 7) or she will go swimming in the pool.
Portion-control, eating food in its natural form, avoiding red meat, circuit-training with plenty of cardio, these are the secrets to Kendra Wilkinson’s post-baby bod.
