1. Eat More Fruits And Vegetables

Just one apple, for instance, is loaded with 4 grams of fiber along with over 10,000 phytonutrients that help reduce inflammation, lower oxidative stress and help with your hormonal balance. One of the biggest reasons people struggle to lose weight is because of chronic systemic inflammation along with an imbalance of stress hormones like cortisol.

Aim for eating 7-13 servings of fresh fruits and veggies every day as recommended by the USDA to lose weight naturally.

2. Eat Chia Seeds

This superfood has been shown to help dramatically reduce inflammation – which is a key trigger for your hormones AND your weight. Just one serving of chia seeds (28g) contains 11g of fiber and 4g of protein along with 9g of healthy Omega-3 fats that fight inflammation!

You can start with a tablespoon of chia seeds a day. Soak them in water for 20-30 minutes and add them to oatmeal or smoothies or eat soaked chia seeds with a spoon.

3. Drink Pure Water

Cutting out high calorie drinks and switching to pure water is one of the fastest, easiest and healthiest ways to lose weight naturally. Researchers have now found that calories you consume from liquids do not trigger your brain’s satiety centers – meaning that you can drink in 1000 calories of a sugary drink and not feel full!

Simply switching to water can help you lose a lot of weight naturally.

4. Eat More Fiber

Most researchers agree that we should be eating at least 35g of fiber a day to maintain a healthy weight and good digestion. The average American eats only 15g of fiber a day!

Just by adding one serving of chia seeds and 1 apple, you can get an extra 15g of fiber and double the average daily fiber intake!

5. Sleep

Sleep is crucial for regulating your body’s hormones, especially cortisol. People who have more balanced cortisol levels tend to lose weight much faster than those who do not.

Aim for getting 8 hours of sleep a night if you can. Remember, every body is different so 8 is just an average – you might be better off with 7 or 9 hours, depending on your body.

6. Walk Every Day

Just walking for 15 minutes a day can help you lose weight naturally. It’s not just about going to the gym, lifting weights or running a marathon. Just 15 minutes a day of walking can dramatically lower your stress levels – which again effect your hormones.

Walk at least 15 minutes a day to reduce stress, boost your metabolism and lose weight naturally.

7. Eat Whole Foods, Not Processed Foods

Processed foods like white sugar, white flour, and packaged foods like potato chips, cookies, and crackers are purely empty calories – they spike your insulin levels, which disrupts your blood sugar and hormonal balance. Not only that, these foods can cause digestive problems, inflammation, and bloating – all of which lead to weight gain!

No processed foods

If you want to lose weight, avoid processed foods and eat whole foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, berries, nuts, seeds and legumes.

8. Do Breathing Exercises

Practice deep breathing exercises often to lose weight naturally. Shallow chest breathing can increase stress levels and lead to fatigue, insomnia, poor circulation, and eating disorders. And none of that is good for you or your weight.

Practice regular breathing exercises like those taught by Breathslim while you’re in the car, at work, or getting ready for bed.

9. Practice Yoga

I know it sounds crazy, but have you ever seen an overweight person who does yoga regularly? Almost NEVER!

Why? Well, some may say it’s because people who are overweight don’t do yoga. That may or may not be true – but people who do yoga regularly and keep at it tend to lose weight for similar reasons that doing breathing exercises helps you lose weight.

Practicing yoga, like breathing exercises, helps lower your stress levels, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and improve hormonal balance which helps you to maintain a healthy weight and burn fat if you have extra to get rid of.

10. Keep A Journal

I highly recommend keeping a weight loss journal. In this journal, you can take notes of what you eat each day if you want – but that’s just a small part of it. I am NOT talking about writing down how many calories you ate! That’s not important at all.

What is important is that you reflect on your actions each day and your feelings. If you ate something and afterwards felt bad about it, write that down in your journal. If you ate a meal and you felt particularly proud and energized afterward, write that down.

The key here is self-reflection. Most people who are overweight live in denial their whole life. Just a bit of self-reflection every day at the end of the day can help give you the motivation, drive and understanding you need to keep yourself on the right path to a healthier body.
